The big Golf Storage solution has to be the Golf Bag itself and there are a number of factors to consider when purchasing a golf bag.

Having lugged a few bags around courses in my time the number one factor to consider is weight. What should be borne in mind though are two key elements, firstly how does the golfer normally get around the course and secondly how many clubs are they going to be taking.

If you are normally driven around in golfing buggy heaven then the weight of the golf bag is not that important. If on the other hand your regular golf course is like a Royal Marine yomp then consider the lighter bag.

Sometimes you only want to take a few clubs around with you, and indeed having fewer clubs to choose from is a good training exercise. Consider therefore a lightweight bag. Bag weights can vary from around 1.5 kg to 6kg.

The main thing to consider then is if you are going to go for a Trolley bag or a Stand bag. Having played golf when the only option was a trolley with thin wheels that cut in more than they travelled over the grass or let it get wet on the grass then things have come a long way. The new stand bags are great and work a treat.

The carry strap system that you prefer is also of importance. Do you go for the double strap full on golf caddy look or a simple padded shoulder strap affair.

Finally think about the number of pockets that you need. Too few and you have to pull everything like you wet weather gear out to get to anything and too many and you end up searching through ten pockets before you finally find the new gizmo that you are looking for. Is there space for your PDA, mobile and the latest fairway GPS system. If not then you might find that you have left the tees and balls behind in the garage.
